Persian rugs are bulky and they are extremely pricey. Not everyone can afford it. It is because of this reason, those who can afford these rugs are advised to take necessary steps to keep their rugs clean and well maintained. There are several methods of maintaining the Persian rugs. Some of the methods are mentioned below which can help you to maintain your Persian rug and keep them in shape for years to come!

 Dry cleaning the Persian rug is one of the simplest methods which can be applied to keep the rug in shape. It is suggested to dry clean the rug once every 3 to 4 months. This will not only remove the dirt from the rug but also increase its life span and beauty. If the Persian rugs are maintained properly, they can be passed from one generation to the other.

- A little bit of work on your part can also take care of the rug. Vacuuming occasionally can help to remove the dirt from the rug. However, you will have to stay cautious while using vacuum cleaner on fringe tassels because they may get tangled and extensive damage can be caused to the rug.

- One of the worst things that can happen to the Persian rug that you have is spills. Spills cannot be avoided but the stains left by the spills on the rug can be stopped. If something spills, make sure that scoop it instantly using a spatula or a spoon and then prevent the stains using some of the solutions which are readily available at home. Soda, ammonia, white vinegar, detergent solutions etc. really good to fight stains. A solution made of liquid detergent, 2/3rd cup of water and 1/3rd cup of vinegar must always be kept handy to fight tough stains including blood stains.

- Thorough cleaning of the Persian rugs is essential. Though not frequently, the rug must be sent for thorough cleaning once every year. This is essential because most of the methods which can be used at home can only remove the dirt from the upper surface. Those which are stuck deep inside and cannot be pulled out require washing. However, washing Persian rugs in not really easy. Using professional help is always recommended because of the fact that they know exactly what kind of material is being used in the rug and what kind of cleaning method must be applied to keep the rug in shape without damaging the fabric. Not only for thorough cleaning to remove dirt, the rug must also be take for professional attention for several types of stains which can be extremely tough to fight. Most of the stains can be easily removed at home but that never means that everything can be cleaned at home.

Persian rugs are assets and hence, they must be take care of. Any mistake or any delay will simple decrease the lifespan of the rugs.
