Should we avoid cheap rugs?

By Joe Maldonado

No? Yes? What must be the answer to the question, "should we avoid cheap rugs?" This is definitely a difficult question to answer and honestly, on one hand the answer can be "two thumps up" an on the other it can be a "boo..." No one can say anything for sure because there are times when avoiding cheap rugs make sense and at times, using them makes sense.

When it comes to buying Oriental or Persian rugs, there can be cheap made rugs which mimic these rugs. This is not the right thing to do because Persian rugs or Oriental rugs are not just about threads and designs. They are exotic and include years of labor put together to weave patters which have something to convey. They are not mere pictures, they speak something, something about the past glory or superstition or they speak of some love story or a war and they include carefully woven colors which make them antique. These Oriental or Persian rugs are huge investments and when they are properly taken care of they can last for generations and they will simply increase in value. It is because of these reasons that these rugs must not be bought cheap because they will not grow in value. So, cheap Oriental rugs or Persian rugs is a strict no!

There are other rugs where cheap rugs make sense. There are several area rugs which are cheap and they perform the same function as the pricey counterparts. These cheap rugs are manufactured by the same manufacturers to address the needs of those people who are on tight budget.

However, since they are cheap it never means that they are bad. In fact there are cheap rugs which are extremely durable and they have amazing hue and patterns which can blend nicely with the interiors and more interestingly, these rugs do not look cheap or they don't even feel cheap. The material that is used for making these rugs is extremely durable and can withstand factors like weather, spills, stains etc. These cheap rugs can be used both indoor and outdoor. They can also be used almost in every room like dinning room, living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, dorm, etc. and in case of outdoors, these rugs can be used in patios where careful placement of these rugs can only increase the beauty of the patio.

The cheap rugs are as good as costly ones but the cheaper ones do have some downsides which are relative in nature. Whether a cheap rug will perform poorly or it will nicely fit in your house will definitely depend on how you are using the rug. Since buying cheap rugs means spending less money, there will definitely be something that you need to give up. The major problem to be noticed is the quality and durability but again, if you can use these rugs properly, they can always be your great companion for years to come.
